Why Loong
The Founder's Journey
The journey began when my boyfriend was diagnosed with a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor that had extensively spread to his liver. He was only 34. I was initially confident that his youth, combined with a healthier lifestyle—eating vegetables, quitting smoking and alcohol, and exercising—would lead to a swift recovery.
But reality was far more difficult. Battling severe loss of appetite, dramatic weight loss, and intense liver pain, he had to rely on morphine. The medication, however, left him weak and drowsy, creating a vicious cycle where exercise became impossible. At his lowest point, he was exhausted by sunset, unable to walk for more than 20 minutes, and lost over 10 kilograms.
Recognizing that his family constant anxiety and overwhelming concern accidentally left him with little emotional space to breathe, gradually creating feelings of frustration and helplessness. I made the difficult decision to quit my job. We moved out together so I could focus entirely on his care.
While Western medicine was vital, I integrated holistic nutrition and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) into his recovery. I made fresh juices to replenish essential vitamins and utilized TCM principles to brew therapeutic soups—carefully selecting and adjusting herbs to support liver function, restore Qi (vital energy), boost immunity, and improve sleep.
Within a month, the transformation was remarkable. His appetite and weight returned to normal, and his cancer markers plummeted from over 700 to 170. It was an incredibly encouraging victory.
This journey also opened my eyes to my own health. Exhausted from past work stress, sleep deprivation, and a habit of cold drinks, I had been trapped in a "sub-optimal healthy" state—where medical tests showed no abnormalities, yet I felt constantly drained and irritable. By incorporating traditional herbal remedies made from natural roots and botanicals, my dull complexion became radiant, and my vitality returned to the point where I now jog every other day.
With over 5,000 years of history, TCM teaches us that nature holds the remedies and that true health stems from internal balance. While Western medicine offers essential immediate intervention, TCM builds the foundation for long-term well-being, strengthening the body to prevent illness and recurrence.
Our brand, "Loong" (Dragon), embodies a symbol deeply rooted in Chinese culture with a history even longer than medicine itself. Through Loong, we strive to honor this legacy, bridge the understanding of traditional wisdom, and pass the gift of holistic healing to the world.
